If you’re feeling unhealthy, you’re not alone. I’m also struggling to eat healthier and cut out processed sugars, carbs, burgers, fries, pizza, beer… you get the picture. Whether you’re a health nut, looking to eat healthier, or just trying to get in shape for the summer; Nana is a great place to go to start you on the right path without sacrificing taste!
Nana is one of the best organic restaurants near me. I know, I know, “organic” scares me too when it comes to taste. Here me out: you are not sacrificing any taste by eating here. In fact, their food tastes delicious and fresh. It doesn’t make me feel like “blah” after eating it! They have many different options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You feel like you’re indulging in a huge meal when really no matter what you get or how much food it is; You’re still eating super healthy!
Let’s start with breakfast. Their pancakes with peanut butter, banana, chocolate might change your mind about an organic breakfast. To be honest though, regardless of their organic status, I’m not sure you can call these healthy. But for those hesitant to hop on the organic train, these are a must. They taste like dessert!
Not impressed? They have plenty of other options. This is their garden omelet with veggies, home fries, farm greens, and a choice of sourdough or wheat toast.
A popular breakfast item is their “nanadict” which is their take on eggs benedict. It’s two poached eggs, chorizo, pupusas, poblano cream, and farm greens.
Regardless of the fact that it’s so healthy, this is still one of the best breakfasts in Chicago.
Moving on to lunch, I have to start with my all time favorite fries ever. I couldn’t believe that I was eating organic, healthy, “fries.” They’re avocado fries, and they’re just as amazing as they sound.
These fries literally melt in your mouth because it’s a fried avocado! It’s crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I highly recommend dipping them in the creamy chipotle-lime aioli sauce. They’re a perfect appetizer, but be careful, you might not want to share these.
Another awesome appetizer is the nachos. Pulled pork, cheese sauce, black beans, tomatillo salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. They’re massive too!
Not only is the food completely organic, but they support local farms and businesses, which is something that’s important to me.
Moving from lunch to dinner, the first thing I’d recommend is their chimichurri steak. It’s extremely flavorful and has a real savory taste to it.
If you’re a fan of seafood then you have to try their “grilled spicy shrimp & oyster po’ boy.” It comes with cajun mayo, giardiniera, tomato, and arugula.
Who would have thought that eating healthy good taste (and look) this good! Nana was not only the healthiest thing I’ve eaten in a while, but sincerely one of the best restaurants in Chicago, healthy or not. Their food is healthy and tastes amazing, plus they had awesome service and a wonderful ambience.
I urge you to try Nana, however, it is a bit out of the way for certain people. If you don’t leave near Bridgeport, which is South of Chinatown, then you might want to consider doing what I did. I just went to Bootler and I got it delivered right to my door. Bootler provides side-by-side comparisons of delivery fees, time estimates, ratings, and more. Anyways, next time you're looking for healthy, organic food without sacrificing taste make sure you check out Nana!
